Mathieu Bernard-Reymond
When photography somehow bridges the abyss between real and unreal, the artist doesn't just create the medium but becomes a medium. Mathieu Bernard-Reymond, a photography instructor based in Lausanne, reveals the gentle details of the vibrations and energies invisibly resident in the 'real' world. Inching closer towards an existence made from lucid, peaceful fantasy, Bernard-Reymond's work suggests environments and objects of unconscious desire, only available from behind a lens. He was the recipient of the Photographic Prize of Hermès Watch in 2001; his work has been shown at Paris Photo, Artissima (Torino), Contemporary Istanbul and Art Dubai and he has appeared in the Collector's Guide to New Art Photography (Vol. 2) coinciding with the exhibition at the Chelsea Art Museum, New York. Bernard-Reymond was born in Gap (Hautes-Alps), France in 1976 and is represented by Galerie Baudoin Lebon, Paris.
