David Hockney | The Arrival of Spring, 2014

Hockney's video installation Woldgate Woods, November 26th 2010 at Annely Juda Fine Art (8 May to 12 July 2014).

It is a crisp morning; the terrain is almost arctic blue & cool light pierce through bare trees. Several passer-byes (driver, bird or pedestrian) are caught unaware along the snow-covered track as gallery viewers are taken onboard an unexpected journey. 

The 50 minute sequence is presented on nine video screens in a 3 x 3 format. There are nine individual digital videos synchronised and each displayed on a 55-inch NEC screens to comprise a single work (206 x 362 cm overall). 

Hockey is well-known for his evolving use of technology in his work. This film captures a wide field of vision and mesmerises.
