Korakrit Arunanondchai will introduce his latest project, Letters to Chantri #1: The lady at the door/The gift that keeps on giving (2014), as a continuation of his ritualistic, autobiographical practices that encompass performance, installation, video, and painting with frequent references to Thai pop-culture, history, and the millennial youth culture. In this new work, Arunanondchai poignantly unveils what happens when history, heritage, and tradition collapse into a world of anxiety, immediacy, deregulation, and detachment; a world where myths of innovation and notions of "the new" have become ideals of progress, and history is often only referenced as a passing side note.
