Shilpa Gupta ( b. 1976, Bombay, India) works on the perception of images and their effects on the spectator through the use of videos, performances, objects, photographs, installations or digital art, often interactive. Concerned by what we are looking at and how, her artistic research is oriented towards the ways of interpreting information and the misunderstandings they bring in a highly mediated world. The artist explores the influences of politics and cultures on the construction of our identities and questions our perceptions through her work, which can be appreciated on several different levels.
