Mamma mia Addictees! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Remember the time you saw artwork and said, "I could have done that"? Well, in this case, you really, really could have. An Italian artist auctioned off an 'Invisible Sculpture' for €15,000. It is literally made of nothing but fresh air and unicorn farts. "It is a work that asks you to activate the power of the imagination," Salvatore Garau said of his sculpture. It's taken us a bit, but we have finally come to appreciate that banana taped to the wall by that other Italian artist.

Something we can't do is paint like our friend P. Gnana. Welcome to this week's Weekend Art Fix.

Gnana is a distinguished, leading painter and sculptor in Singapore. He received a scholarship to LASALLE College of the Arts and has since produced and exhibited work widely across Asia.

Experimentation, serious and sometimes meditative, has been one of the key instruments that has shaped Gnana's creative journey through the past two decades, allowing him to rejuvenate in a world of constant change and fluctuating emotions.

Having exhibited in Singapore, Malaysia, India and Dubai, Gnana's exemplary work can also be found in the collections of the former President of the Republic of Singapore, the Singapore Art Museum and the National Heritage Board.Take a moment to appreciate the talent that is P. Gnana.

“Every painting touches upon a universal feeling of love that is accentuated by the comforting fact that no one person or animal is alone in love. The notion of emotional ecstasy and the enjoyable taste of being cherished are pictorially portrayed in a readily-recognisable, stylized, semi-figurative mode. Indeed, it is a worldly expression of an element of his subconscious; an element that is undeniably but not entirely linked to the carefree innocence of his [the Artist] childhood and his deep affection for the one who nurtured him and the cows at home – his mother.”

Ganesh is one of the best-known and most worshipped deities in the Hindu religion. Known by many attributes, Ganesh's elephant head makes him easy to identify. Ganesh is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, ensuring success in human endeavours. For this reason, Hindus worship Ganesh first before beginning any religious, spiritual or worldly activity. Ganesha is also the patron of the arts.

A perfect blend of the two is “Ganesh – The Universe”.
