The infinite American landscape has lured generations of photographers to pile into their cars and journey coast to coast to capture a poetically changing terrain. From Wyoming to Arizona, New Mexico to Kansas, and finally landing in Central Park, these photographs depict our own imagined American tour à la Evans, Wilkes, McPhee, Moore, and Ruscha, the latter whose iconic image comes from a series of gas stations he photographed along Route 66.
