Icon paintings are sacred art forms, and they have been food and drink to peoples for so many ages.  These devotional paintings are traditionally illuminated by an olive oil lamp or Beeswax candles.  The icon paintings are venerated in Eastern Orthodox churches because they bring the viewer in close connection with the Divine.

I have had the pleasure to exhibit a triptych of Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox paintings in a recent Cultural Diversity exhibition.  The Bulgarian artist, Veronika Panayotova, has resumed the tradition of making copies of the Annunciation, Christ Pantocrator and Virgin Hodegetria from Eastern Orthodox churches.

These Eastern Orthodox icon paintings are still food and drink today.
