Italian designer Alessandro Mendini and American painter Peter Halley have collaborated for a show on view now through June 29th at Mary Boone uptown.  The show is comprised of nine new Halley paintings hung on digitally-printed wallpaper designed by Mendini, a founding member of Studio Alchimia, the Italian Post-modernist group that embraced decoration, symbolism, and appropriation. Mendini is best known for his 1978 "Poltrona di Proust" armchair,  a found Rococo-revival chair covered in Pointillist decoration taken from a painting by Impressionist Paul Signac.
