Emotional Painting - this is an online exhibition of 36 ink wash paintings by Alex Solodov.

Alex Solodov lives and works in Moscow, Russia and Ericeira, Portugal. Alex’s main focus in his art is to work with figurative painting in expressionism style using ink wash painting technique. The main theme of the exhibition is emotional approach to painting. Before starting a painting artist never prepare any sketches. Painting for him - "is a spontaneous process when he creates a black-white images inspired by Day Dreams." Also the places where the artist lives are reflected in Alex's painting. The influence of more sunny Portugal is an optimistic approach to creative process with more "air" and "light" in paintings such ink wash painting "Hope". And more gray and dark weather in Russia has inspired paintings such as "Expression".

For Alex it is very important to choose the right pose for a model. The pose of the model is the "hieroglyph" in the language of the body. And every of those "hieroglyphs" can be translated in the process of painting to the visual "language of emotions”.

Technically ink wash painting has it's roots in Chinese and Japanese art. The master of old Chinese art school was working with own imagination and his artworks have had a symbolic meaning. Alex is trying to go this way also. Working with these paintings artist has a goal - "To catch an elusive moment between dream and reality".
