Once again visitors to Art Toronto 2013 will have the opportunity view
the works of the 15 finalists of the RBC Canadian Painting Competition. The
winner was announced at the National Gallery of Canada on October 2. Vancouver's Colleen Heslin was awarded a cash prize of $25,000, while two honourable mentions, Colin Muir Doward and Neil Harrison will each
receive $15,000. The remaining 12 finalists will each be awarded
$5,000. For the eighth consecutive year, RBC Wealth Management
will return as Presenting Sponsor of Art Toronto, demonstrating their
commitment to the visual arts in Canada and abroad.

Robin Anthony, RBC Art Curator, will
moderate a panel discussion on the impact of the RBC Canadian Painting
Competition on the next generation of painters and why painting is alive and
thriving in Canada. Joining Robin will be Richard Rhodes, Editor of Canadian
Art Magazine, John Kissick, artist, Director of the School of Fine Art and
Music at the University of Guelph and past RBC Canadian Painting Competition
juror, Daniel Faria, Director, Daniel Faria Gallery and 2013 RBC Canadian
Painting Competition juror and Beth Stuart, artist, 2010 finalist and winner of
an Honourable Mention in the 2011 RBC Canadian Painting Competition.
