Dispatch: Yangon

It is in the lack of resources, not talent, that Yangon’s art scene falls short. Public institutions focus on centuries-old traditions, and little funding is provided to those engaging with new mediums or concepts. Because of this, young artists have set out to create their own systems of display, education and criticism, and a cultural renaissance is now gathering pace both in Myanmar and abroad.
