Field Trip: Baku

In recent years, the rise in oil prices has enriched the economy of Azerbaijan, a former Soviet state, allowing it to redevelop at a scale unseen in its history. This recent national development has also had an impact on the local art community. In March, ArtAsiaPacific traveled to its capital, Baku, to learn about its growing contemporary art scene and attend the opening of the exhibition “Love Me, Love Me Not” at Heydar Aliyev Center, a multimillion-dollar cultural museum built in 2012.
