PICK OF THE WEEK: From Issue 89:: Dearest Montien: Tribute to Montien Boonma

In 2013, Thai-Indian artist Navin Rawanchaikul wrote a letter that formed part of the group exhibition “Spiritual Ties,” a tribute celebration for Montien Boonma (1953–2000), on what would have been his 60th birthday. The letter, which we reprint in full, describes the Thai art scene since Montien’s death more than a decade ago, and the impact the influential artist has had on the tight-knit art community.
