Describing his 1993 assignment to photograph the Pacific Coast Highway for Travel & Leisure magazine in STEIDL's essential new monograph on his color work, Bruce Davidson writes, "It was a dream assignment to cruise up the coastal highway from Santa Monica, California to Seattle, Washington taking pictures of vistas along the way. Some of the highway views were exquisitely powerful with the mountain range's foothills coming right down to the Pacific Ocean coastline. My wife Emily and I felt the power and beauty at this edge of America. It took us seventeen days to complete the journey and without Emily's abundant energy, strong driving skills and astute organizing, I could not have completed the project." Advance copies will be available at ourARTBOOK + STEIDL booth at the LAABF, opening Thursday night at the Geffen Contemporary!
