The 2013 acrylic panel painting "Execution Change #73B (CS, Q1, LRJ, DC, Q2, LLJ, DC, Q3, ULJ, DC, Q4, ULJ, DC)" is reproduced from Blum & Poe's new monograph on Julian Hoeber, who will sign copies of the book at 7PM in our booth (E08) during the opening of the LA Art Book Fair Thursday night, January 30. Of the series, essayist Douglas Fogle writes, "These works clearly derive from a long line of modernist design and painting with their misleading invocation of geometric order. The truth of the matter, though, is that they are fucked up, exhibit surface stigmata and dance to an at times contrarian rhythm that quietly subverts the systemic logic of an ordered modernist universe."
