Robert Motherwell: Early Collages
ARTBOOK | D.A.P.
In his essay for the eye-opening exhibition catalog, Robert Motherwell: Early Collages, Guggenheim curator Brandon Taylor writes, "During his first decade in art, Robert Motherwell contributed perhaps more to the practice of collage in point of scale, intensity, and ambition than any American artist of his generation..." The catalog bears him out. Featured image is an untitled 1943 collage work comprised of ink, gouache, watercolor, pastel and various papers mounted on paperboard.
