Milan, 2 May 2016 – Alessandro Rabottini has been appointed as the new Artistic Director of miart, the international fair of modern and contemporary art of Milan.

With the selection of Alessandro Rabottini, a curator with extensive international experience, Fiera Milano underscores its policy of continuity with respect to the achievements of the last four editions of miart directed by Vincenzo de Bellis, with whom Rabottini has worked from the outset, first as curatorial coordinator (2013, 2014 and 2015) and then as Deputy Director for the 2016 edition.

“miart changes, but with an eye on continuity – says Corrado Peraboni, CEO of Fiera Milano – to proceed along the path of international excellence of the event, which once again this year was a central focus of the arts and media community around the world. We are certain that the new Artistic Director will bring new energy to the organization of the fair and new ideas for its further evolution, to confirm the position of leadership of miart as a national and international reference point for culture, an event of remarkable prestige for Milan and for Italy.”

"It is an honor to take on this new role in miart – said Alessandro Rabottini after having been for four years a part of the team guided by Vincenzo de Bellis, whom I would like to thank for having invited me to work on the fair since the very start of his term. These have been years of great enthusiasm, due to the energy with which the city, the galleries, the collectors, the institutions, the press and the public have contributed to our work. It is a great responsibility to inherit a project so full of different voices, perspectives and potentialities. I would like to thank Fiera Milano for granting me this opportunity, and for their faith in my abilities. With the project of miart 2017 I hope to continue to develop the context with which the fair, at this point, is identified: a place of quality and discovery, a crossroads of dialogues between history and experimentation, visual art and design, tradition and innovation."
