Two new art fairs have announced inaugural U.S. editions for 2024: Also Known As Africa (AKAA) and the Atlanta Art Fair, which will take place in May and October respectively.
AKAA, which was founded in 2015 in Paris, specializes in contemporary African art and design. It will hold its first international edition next May at The Beehive in Los Angeles, and will feature “more than 80 artists, galleries, and curators from around the world,” presented in the form of a large-scale exhibition rather than with “exhibitor booths.”
The Atlanta Art Fair, meanwhile, will be the “first global art fair” for Georgia’s state capital, and is expected to feature more than 50 galleries. The fair will be a collaboration between Art Market Productions, which runs fairs including Art on Paper and Seattle Art Fair; and Intersect Art & Design, which runs fairs in Palm Beach, Aspen, and Chicago. According to organizers, the fair aims to “nurture an inclusive platform that connects to the city’s unique history and supports the local art ecosystem by providing an important commercial platform and connecting Atlanta artists and galleries to wider audiences.”
