The 2017 ARTBO fair sections are as follows:

PRINCIPAL

Each year, ARTBO invites galleries from around the world to participate in a careful selection process, led by a Committee of prominent, international figures. The main section contains a balanced combination of established and emerging galleries.

PROYECTOS

This section showcases projects by contemporary artists, who are represented by a gallery and invited to participate. This year, Proyectos is curated by Kiki Mazzucchelli. She is interested in exploring how societies that are promised more egalitarian and inclusive models are now being questioned by divisive discourses. She focuses on the recent emergence of populism and questions of human rights. According to Mazzucchelli, “the notion of human rights and universal welfare is under severe threat. This phenomenon is nonetheless characterized by forgetting the historical events and struggles that underpin the notions of democracy and human rights.”

Referentes

Referentes explores works by artists who have shifted paradigms of art history. These artists have inspired following generations and have informed our definition of contemporary art today.

SITIO

In this section, galleries feature site-specific and large-scale projects and installations outside their booth spaces and throughout the fair venue.

ARTECÁMARA

This section highlights promising emerging and young Colombian artists without gallery representation. These artists are selected by a curator through a public, national call for applications.

FORO

Foro provides a platform for learning and discussing topics related to contemporary art. The talks aim to expand the traditional lecture format with actions and performances.

ARTICULARTE

This section creates a space for experimentation and collective production. The goal of this section is to raise awareness and bring the general public closer to contemporary art practices.

LIBRO DE ARTISTA

In this section, a selection of art book publishers show the work of artists who use books as a medium.
