Interest in private artwork sales is a fast-growing need for Artsy collectors, and we are currently seeking a Consignments Manager (Private Sales) to serve this need and grow the department. As a private sales specialist on the Consignments Team, you will be responsible for helping our collectors sell works from their collection privately. As part of your role, you will nurture existing clientele, cultivate your own book of business and provide high-touch support to our top collectors.

The Consignments team is a recent area of business investment that aims to create more liquidity in the market and enable collectors to sell and rotate their collection more frequently, seamlessly and with the best outcome.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving private sales GMV for the Consignments team; learning and iterating on the process to ensure its scalability over time
  • Evaluating private sales consignments property (authentication, provenance, pricing)
  • Managing relationships with consignors to set their expectations
  • Cultivating relationships with collectors, building up the collector database, logging collection details and wish lists
  • Liaising with Artsy’s partners and private art advisors to match consignment property with its new owner
  • Developing relationships with third party clients to drive consignment supply and demand
  • Supporting all pre- and post-consignment service requests (contracts, price expectations, payouts)

Candidate Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience (preferably in the gallery or auction house, focusing on sales)
  • Track record of artwork sales and client development
  • Background and expertise in contemporary art (knowledge of market, trends, pricing)
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines and under pressure
  • Comfort operating independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in a language other than English is a plus
