Artsy’s mission is to expand the art market to support more artists and art in the world. Artsy has created the world’s largest two-sided art marketplace, offering more than 1 million works by 100,000 artists from 4,000 leading galleries, fairs, auction houses, and institutions across 190 countries.

The art market is the last major consumer marketplace to come online and, with over $30B in commercial inventory, Artsy is the first company to aggregate the lion’s share of it onto a single marketplace platform. Our Product team is central to unlocking the full potential of Artsy’s marketplace to not only connect existing buyers and sellers but to create a liquid secondary market and expand the art market overall. Artsy is looking for a Director of Product to take responsibility for our Collector Product area.

Artsy’s Collector Product Area leads many high growth, high impact consumer focused efforts. Responsible for improving the collector lifecycle and matchmaking buyers and sellers, this team drives user acquisitions, onboarding, and retention across web and app. As Director of Product, you will oversee Artsy’s efforts to service collectors with the right insights for managing their collections, and putting art advisory in the hands of users. You will be responsible for setting the product vision and bolstering consumer confidence to buy new artist works and to sell from their own collections. You will play a critical role in the acceleration of our secondary market efforts, driving collector inventory acquisitions as well as gross merchandise value more holistically. You will report to our EVP Product & Engineering, working closely with a high-performing cross functional leadership team to set your teams up for success.

What You’ll Do:

  • Take ownership of the product vision and strategy for the Collector product area, work with Product Managers to build the roadmap, ensure successful cross collaboration, and ensure alignment with product teams across the whole org.
  • Oversee 5 product teams (~40 person organization) and drive its future scale. You will lead efforts across our secondary market area, collector lifecycle management and merchandising.
  • You’ll collaborate with the Private Sales and Auction teams to drive more inventory from collectors, and with the Merchandising and Marketing teams for Collector Lifecycle Management and Matchmaking.
  • Coaching and line management responsibility for a team of 4 Product Managers.
  • Build strong partnership with our other business leaders across Engineering, Data and Design to build a high-performing cross-functional organization.
  • Work closely with Artsy’s executive team to inform, influence and ultimately drive some major aspects of the company strategy.
  • Partner with other product leaders to drive a better product culture and practice across all of Artsy.
  • Ensure your team maintains a healthy balance of innovation, investment, and maintenance.

Who You Are:

We welcome you to apply regardless of “checking all the boxes” below, and are excited to hear what you can bring to the team.

  • You bring a diverse perspective, experience, and DNA to Artsy’s Product team and to decision making.
  • Experience in a Product Leadership role; leading a 50+ person Product organization; managing a minimum of 5+product teams, with multiple senior level direct reports.
  • You can contribute to Artsy’s future growth plans - you bring insights and a track record in helping a business and Product organization grow at scale.
  • Prior experience managing complex web and mobile products.
  • Understanding of building products with high price point considerations; experience from an eCommerce, online marketplace, or a luxury environment.
  • You bring a track record of organizational leadership and coaching, with a clear vision to inform the Product roadmap as well as a strong ability to work effectively with business stakeholders to maximize overall business impact.
  • Ability to align, mentor and manage distributed cross functional teams —you care deeply about driving a safe, open environment for feedback.
