Associate Director of Growth

The Marketing team at Artsy seeks an experienced growth professional to lead acquisition efforts across channels for our gallery subscription business.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We believe that art and self-expression elevate the human condition and lead to a more conscious, connected, and empathetic world. However, like music before the radio and record player, the art world today is small, insular, and hard to access–especially if you live outside major cultural hubs.

We believe that by engaging more people with art and empowering them with access to art market information, we will lift the fog of opacity and exclusivity that keep 99%+ of potential art buyers on the sidelines. And by removing the art market’s friction points–30-40% costs and 3-6 month sale cycles–we will raise the frequency of buying and selling. Given the market’s current inefficiency, only $66B of art’s $3T in assets trade annually. We believe our platform can expand that market into the $100’s of billions, growing Artsy’s business and supporting a much larger, more vibrant, and diverse art ecosystem.

YOUR ROLE

You will work closely our Head of Marketing (your manager), and key members of our GFI team (Galleries, Fairs and Institutions). While GFI is our most mature business, we estimate there are still tens of thousands of galleries worldwide that currently do not use Artsy; many of which are targets for our subscription business. As Associate Director/Director of Growth, you will spearhead all lead generation/acquisition efforts to bring more galleries into our sales funnel, while monitoring and maintaining lead qualification. You will set the channel and acquisition strategy for this target audience, managing 1-2 people on tactical deployment, and overseeing budget and projections. You will work closely with our brand team in crafting value propositions, content and creative assets to drive interest and applications from prospective galleries, and partner with our CRM team to optimize conversions of prospects into customers.

This is a high-impact, high-viability position that greatly contributes to an already successful business with thousands of customers worldwide.

YOU ARE

· Analytical and detail-oriented–you are fluent in Excel and comfortable with key marketing analyses such as ROI, LTCV, setting up parameters for investing in acquisition and building scenarios for projections.

· Pro-active–you are always one step ahead, thinking about the next channel to be added to the mix, or the next opportunity for campaign optimization

· An effective collaborator, with appreciation for the creative process–you know how to gather input and contributions from complementary teams while driving the bus and pushing work with extreme agility and focus on deadlines.

· Experienced in multi-channel acquisition with emphasis in B2B–multi-year experience driving growth for high-growth brands, with deep understanding of channel suitability for different brands and channel optimization as a whole

· A great communicator – whether through Slides/PPT, Excel or verbally, you communicate with clarity and precision

· Excited to align your life purpose with Artsy’s mission of creating a world where art is as ubiquitous as music, and you share our values (detailed below)

· Bonus points: you’re an ex-consultant from a top strategy consulting firm (McKinsey, BCG, Bain), or ex-analyst from a top digital marketing agency

TO APPLY

The Associate Director/Director of B2B Growth role is full-time and based in our offices in downtown Manhattan surrounded on all sides by skyline views of NYC, New Jersey, and Brooklyn.

ABOUT ARTSY

The art market is the last major consumer marketplace to come online and, with over $30B in commercial inventory, Artsy is the first company to aggregate the lion’s share of it onto a single platform. Artsy is also the first platform where virtually all the world’s major galleries, museums, fairs, and auction houses have listed inventory–from Sotheby’s contemporary sales to ancient relics in The Met’s permanent collection. Artsy’s platform is global. 70% of our partners are internationally based and our average transaction distance is over 3,000 miles, the highest of any platform on the Internet. Artsy is the largest art marketplace and most comprehensive art platform in the world–help us use that platform to manifest a world where art is as ubiquitous as music.

WHY ARTSY

We don’t see ourselves as a business with employees. We see ourselves as a community of people with a common purpose and common values.

As such, there are no specific work hours or policies, no pointless bureaucracy. We only care that you achieve inspiring results that are aligned with our shared purpose. And that you work with us to achieve those results in a way that is aligned with our shared values. We look for people who act like the CEO of their area of responsibility and collaborate with no ego in service of Artsy's mission.

WORKING AT ARTSY

In addition to our vision of “a world where art is as ubiquitous as music,” Artsy has five core values that will inform your experience working with us:

Art x Science: We believe in the value of both logic and intuition, data and emotion, in our communications, our design, our code, our decision making, and our people. We celebrate the magic that happens when the often separate worlds of art and science are brought together, and we look to create that magic in everything we do.

People are Paramount: At Artsy we believe in people. We spend an extraordinary amount of energy to find the best person in the world for a particular role, and accordingly we treat them like the CEO of that role once they are hired. This means there are no specific work hours, no pointless bureaucracy. You will have complete autonomy and responsibility. Artsy only cares that you achieve inspiring results in a way that is aligned with our values.

Quality Worthy of Art: We believe in creating an experience that is worthy of all the world’s art and the countless lifetimes of dedication that artists have committed to their craft. In recognition of this, we strive to go a step further than what is required in everything we do. We believe the best long term quality comes from rapidly shipping and iterating in the short term.

Positive Energy: We believe in being inclusive and focusing our energy on what makes us happy and excited as opposed to what we don’t like. We take ownership of our negative feelings and use them as opportunities for greater self-awareness. We believe in a positive, supportive, and collaborative culture.

Openness: We believe in getting out of our comfort zone in order to be more open with each other whether that means sharing positive encouragement, critical feedback, or simply sharing our emotions and feelings as they arise. We are also open to receiving feedback no matter how painful it is to hear. We believe in manifesting a more open world where more people have access to art, and can express themselves and connect with others through art.

Artsy is an equal opportunity employer. We value a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, marital status, disability, and veteran status.
