Senior Full Stack Engineer (Platform)

In support of a more expansive marketplace for art consumption, we are seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join the Velocity team supporting our growing platform and ensuring the health and reliability of our services.
The mission of the Velocity team is to enable rapid, high-quality, confident product development. As a Senior Fullstack Engineer, you will be responsible for the core services of Artsy’s platform. You will collaborate with engineers who focus on the scalability, observability, and security of our services to ensure the highest quality developer and user experience. We are looking for someone who is interested in working closely with infrastructure and is ready to support and promote a DevOps culture.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop end-to-end features with our backend stack, which includes Node.js, Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, Postgres and MongoDB.
- Build user and developer experiences with our frontend stack, which includes React and TypeScript.
- Write clean, testable, readable and maintainable code that scales and performs.
- Advocate for best practices and coding standards within a large, heterogeneous team.
- Multiply your impact by sharing what you have learned via pair programming, team presentations, blog posts, and other avenues.
- Interface with the open source ecosystem by contributing to Artsy's own or community-supported projects.

- This role will be based in Berlin or London.
- Experience building and maintaining large-scale Node.js applications
- Experience with GraphQL or RESTful APIs
- Experience building modern user interfaces, preferably with TypeScript and React
- Familiarity with a variety of datastores including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch
- Experience being an integral part of the development of large systems; engaging in decision-making and tradeoff evaluation during the development of those systems.
- Understanding of decisions and trade-offs around architecture, performance, scalability, and data-modeling
