Asia Week New York
BachmannEckenstein JapaneseArtof Switzerland is concentrating on "Japanese Art—Pre-Modern and Beyond" at Gallery Schlesinger/Franklin Riehlman Fine Art on the second floor of 24 East 73rd Street. A hanging scroll landscape in ink and color on silk is worthy of special attention. Created in 1866 by master artist Tomioka Tessai (1836-1924), it is one of many works in the exhibition following the stylistic ideals of Literati painters from the 18th through the early 20th century
