Beatriz Esguerra Art has long been interested in expanding the awareness of Colombian art on an international stage. As the gallery has continued to open new markets it has participated in art fairs in different cities and explored several possibilities for growth.
Recently the gallery has decided to concentrate on specific cities that have proven to be interesting and receptive to its ambitious program of presenting contemporary art that explores themes that are both universal and unique to Colombia.
After having attended the Dallas Art Fair for the past three years and finding a warm welcome, BEA has decided to concentrate on making a more permanent presence in Dallas. The remarkable quality of the art scene, supported by high profile collectors and great institutions prompted BEA to follow a growing trend in the art world of opening a pop-up space in a new location. Beatriz Esguerra, owner of the gallery considered both Miami and New York before deciding to focus on Dallas.
Announcing the pop-up she said “From our first DAF in 2014, I felt that this was the right location for my gallery program. Everyone we have met here has been very open, knowledgeable and interested in our concept for the gallery.” The 8.000 sq ft space will be open from April 6 to 21 in the heart of the design district, near Gallery Frank Elbaz, The Dallas Contemporary Museum and Barry Whistler Gallery among others. The owner adds “This huge open space will give us an opportunity, in concert with the Dallas art fair, to present a fuller view of our program, which ranges from acknowledged masters like Fernando Botero to established artists like Hugo Zapata and Pedro Ruiz, as well as artists emerging on to the Colombian scene. Here we can also present large scale sculpture which we have not been able to exhibit at the fair.”
