About the Curator: J.M. Coetzee

John Maxwell Coetzee—better known as J.M. Coetzee—is a a novelist, linguist, essayist, and translator and a 2003 recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature. A strong supporter of animal rights, the South African-born, Australian author has been paired with Flemish sculptor Berlinde De Bruyckere—best known for her depictions of wounded animals.
