$Whale and Breezy started a long-term collaboration to provide a narrative to the $WHALE's "The Vault", one of the largest and most valuable collections of NFTs in the entire space through art curation. Each month we will highlight a specific creator or theme, through rich visuals, high-profile artist interviews, gallery events, and more. The focus is to foster an interactive experience complete with catalogs, newsletters, and other media to explore. The artist of the month of April is Pak.

“Am I a man dreaming I’m a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming I’m a man?”

Murat Pak, Butterfly Messiah, 2008

Imagine the creation process, the universe, space, and space travel. Imagine the reason for life, the infinity, the energy, the matter, geometry, forms, and movement. Imagine the origins of everything, the end. And imagine a place where everything we know, all the laws we studied, the theories and theorems don’t work. That place is “singularity.” And so is Pak.

Now imagine that everything we mentioned above is compressed into the smallest unit of artistic expression, the most compact single element of matter, the nothing from which all the energy came from, like one pixel. That is also Pak.

After 14 years since the question about the man and the butterfly, we certainly can’t answer. But while not knowing what we are, we surely know that we are dreaming through Pak’s art. We started the dream with technique; we then switched to concepts and later experienced the craziest demonstrations about what is possible with the blockchain medium. All of us becoming the victims of this new phenomenon that lately has appeared in the world.

It is very different from the “butterfly effect”. It is more about questioning what value is or rather finding it in the different titles of the same artwork. It’s about being in algorithmic systems that predict what will go viral or being asked to burn NFTs while examining whether what we buy is important for us. It’s the dilemma that makes us know ourselves better. It’s the transparent pixel, that exists and is there to scream it at you. The FOMO, the community, the surprise, the unexpected, the unlocking treasures or mocks in time. All this chaos manifested in the purest and simplest forms, in what we could call visual and aesthetic harmony. Happening in that status of perfection where despite the only intention of the artist is to raise questions for us, what we find, unconsciously, is just answers.

That is not the butterfly effect. That, which we all have been experiencing here, is most certainly called: THE PAK EFFECT.

For April, BREEZY CURATES $WHALE presents Pak. On April 30th, our unmissable exhibition on the Arium platform, where we invite you to discover the 32 Works of the Vault collection.
