Nur Gürel is interested in all impositions that render the society into a consumption society and their results. Her biggest instrument on this subject is manipulation. While she used landscape picture wallpapers as material in decoration in previous work, she included photographs, magazines, posters and billboard advertisings to this ready visual images in the late work. She aims to create tension in her work by using contrasts such as inside-outside, photo-painting, digital printing-painting, town-forest, thin-fat. It intervenes the image with a primitive sensitivity and hands rather than digitally. In this way, sterilized advertising language is broken and becomes natural. Subjects vary according to what is desired to be manipulated. Gürel, describing her art as a manipulation on visual image, lives in Istanbul and continues to create.
