With a new address in the exclusive Vitacura neighborhood, home of prestigious contemporary art galleries and luxury businesses in Santiago, the Ch.ACO International Contemporary Art Fair launches its ninth edition with the support of a curatorial team of prominent national and international professionals and in partnership with the Artsy editorial platform, a dissemination channel that will showcase from Chile the content proposed by the participating galleries to the world.
Along with the Vitacura Municipality, Ch.ACO becomes for the first time a promoter of the Mes de las Artes Visuales (Visual Arts Month), a cultural tourism initiative that seeks to maximize the projection of the Fair's content, within a broader temporal context that offers a program of excellence in terms of exhibitions, cultural events, performance actions, and works of public art.
Recognized for the quality and singularity of its various VIP programs, the fair is conceived as a point of encounter between galleries and collectors from Latin America, Europe, and the United States, professionals and the international press who are offered a specifically tailored program of activities. Ch.ACO is also presented as the epicenter in which the acquisition plans of the collections, private foundations, and museums participating in the event converge and are integrated.
In this ninth edition, the Ch.ACO fair consolidates the second edition of the four curated programs that were inaugurated last year: FOCUS, curated by British-Venezuelan art historian and curator Cecilia Fajardo-Hill, confronts the subject-object in contemporary art through a selection of artists and galleries; PLANTA, curated by Chilean historian and curator Carolina Castro-Jorquera, presents several art spaces that work with the most innovative organizational models in the Latin American scene; NAVE DE EDICIONES, curated by Chilean editor Camila Opazo, approaches through publications by artists and magazines the subject of traveling images as vehicles for the dissemination of ideas; and PROGRAMA PERFORMANCE, which reaches beyond the boundaries of the fair to expand into the city. All this content is added to the fair's historic sections that include talks, awards, educational programs, and editorial spaces.
