Preparing to Set History with Balloon Dog (Orange)
As one of the most prominent artists of our time, Jeff Koons has made a lasting impression on the world with his larger-than-life sculptures. This November 12, one of his most celebrated pieces, Balloon Dog (Orange) will be sold at auction at Christie’s Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale in New York.
Balloon Dog (Orange) was one of Koons’s first sculptures of this type, having been originally fabricated in the 1990s, and this monumental work has traveled around the globe, from Venice’s Grand Canal to Château de Versailles in France.
Proceeds from the colorful stainless steel dog will be used to help future activities of The Brant Foundation Art Study Center in Greenwich, Connecticut; the organization, founded by Peter Brandt, makes notable works of art available to institutions and individuals for research purposes.
Mark your calendars, because this will truly be a night to remember.
