Guggenheim Turrell & Light in Art
Christine Kuan
Right now, three major museums--Guggenheim, MFA Houston, and LACMA-- are showing James Turrell, one of the most important artists of our time working with light as a medium. It was my pleasure interviewing Guggenheim curators Carmen Giménez and Nat Trotman about the installation Turrell did specifically for the museum.
If you are really feeling Turrell's work, explore the theme of light in Artsy and discover works you can collect. I love these available works shown here:
Laddie John Dill, Light Sentence, 1971, $40,000.
Kasper Sonne, The Point of Being Pointless, 2006, $6000.
And especially Hank Willis Thomas, Successful Woman/Angry Men (contact for price) -- so true.
