Minneapolis, MN. -- On Friday, September 28, 2018, CIRCA Gallery debuts their first online exhibition, depth of [color] field. The show, the first of its kind for the gallery, will be on view from September 28 - October 27 at CIRCA Gallery’s page on

depth of [color] field brings together nine artists to examine monochromatic painting across various media. Local, national, emerging, and established artists take different approaches to arrive at the richly saturated end products that are shown in this exhibition. Ranging from subtle, quiet gradient transitions in works by Lindsy Halleckson (Minneapolis, MN) and James Holmberg (Minneapolis, MN), to bold, textured, layered surfaces from James Beaman (Baton Rouge, LA) and Ahavani Mullen (Chicago, IL). The result of these minimal approaches to color fields are deconstructed to the extent that meaning shifts and possible interpretation, as a whole, becomes endless for the viewer.

CIRCA partnered with Artsy as a preferred gallery in August of 2018, concurrent with their last month in their North Loop, Minneapolis location. While CIRCA continues the search for a space to house the next evolution of the gallery – the fourth location in the gallery’s nearly 30-year history – an expanded online presence with the inclusion of digital exhibitions continues to bring abstract contemporary artwork to an ever-expanding audience.
