Last Chance: Duane Michals, The Painted Photograph

This whimsical image is part of a knock-out show at DC Moore in New York City and you have one more day to see it in person. 

Michals' love of color, storytelling and humor all happily intersect.  He staged an intervention of sorts with oil paint upon a trove of 19th-century tintype portraits.

Last week at the gallery he explained that he took these "old folks and introduced them to the Cubists...I resuscitated them. I am bringing them back to life."
