The sculptor Bogdan Rata is present with the artwork ”Trying to keep life” within the international curatorial project ”Personal Structures”, Collateral Event in Venice Biennale 55, at Palazzo Bembo, until November 24, 2013. The artist Rata was selected from short list of 320 artists worldwide by a jury of international curators.

The curator Cosmin Nasui proposed and won the participation of the Romanian artist Bogdan Rata within the project ”Personal Structures”, organised by the Danish foundation Global Art Affairs and curated by Francesca Crudo, Sarah Gold, Carol Rolla and Valeria Romagnini. The exhibition revolves around the concepts Time / Space / Existence and the selected artworks accede to all contemporary visual arts: video, sculpture, painting, photography, installation, performance. Hermann Nitsch (AUT), Yoko Ono (JPN), Roman Opalka (FRA) and Sam Jinks (AUS) are some of the artists with works within the exhibition.

The sizes of the artwork ”Trying to keep life” are 153 x 36,5 x 17 cm and the materials used are synthetic resin, polyester, fibre, metal, paint. The artwork is filled with water. The water evaporates during the exhibiting, showing or hiding parts of the sculptures, depending of the water level.

”Trying to keep life” was created in 2012, on the occasion of Bogdan Rata’s participation within the curatorial project ”Colouring the Grey. The State of Body” at Independents Liverpool Biennial 2012 (St. George’s Hall).
