Duncan Campbell has won the 30th Turner Prize, awarded annually to a British artist under 50 for a recent exhibition or presentation of their work. This year’s exhibition of the four shortlisted artists runs at Tate Britain through January 4th, 2015. (via Tate)
A man accused of forging and selling dozens of drawings and paintings, which he claimed were by Willem de Kooning and Jackson Pollock, has pled guilty in federal court and faces up to 20 years in prison. (via The New York Times)
Can’t get to Miami this week? Not to worry, as Art Miami will be launching a New York edition of the fair to coincide with Frieze New York. Art Miami New York will run May 14–17 at Pier 94 and will host 100 international galleries. (via The Miami Herald)
Get in the holiday spirit with a Paul McCarthy-inspired Christmas tree topper, fashioned after his notorious inflatable sculpture, Tree, displayed (and deflated) in Paris earlier this fall. Artist Ryan Humphrey printed the image of Tree on plywood in various colors and is selling them on Etsy. (via Hyperallergic)

Artist of the Day
Iconic Pointillist painter and Post-Impressionist pioneer Georges Seurat was born on this day in 1859. Seurat’s methodical approach to painting and his innovative use of scientific theories were aimed at reforming the naturalistic, spontaneous conventions of Impressionism.
