Sad to see the fine china firm of Richard Ginori closing down. It all started with the Doccia porcelain manufactory, located in Doccia, near Florence, which was founded in 1735 by Carlo Ginori. After merging with Società Richard of Milan, it became Richard Ginori. In its early days and before the formula for making porcelain was discovered, the company was making “soft-paste” imitation of singular, handcrafted porcelain. Its pieces have graced museums and the tables of some of the world’s finest tables. It declared bankrupt two months ago, leaving its 300 workers unemployed. According to the latest news, Gucci offered 13 million euros for Richard Ginori.Update Post
