I love the Whitney for their amazing program, called the Whitney Wees. It's only in New York that you can take your kids to a museum, before it opens to the public, to see, draw and discuss one of the most famous paintings in the world. My 4yo can now recognize the horizontal and vertical lines of the restaurant and discuss the diagonal lines of the shadows.

Further, the instructor asks the kids to describe a painting of the Brooklyn Bridge, and imagine what sounds the city makes. The fire trucks! The people! The sirens! It was my first time screaming in a major American museum.
