High School Exhibition Opening
June 6, 2013 the Dedalus Foundation held an opening honoring its inaugural exhibition for recipients of the Dedalus Foundation New York Public High School Portfolio Scholarships and Art History Scholarships. Remarks were made by Jack Flam, President of the Dedalus Foundation; Karen Rosner, Coordinator of Visual Arts in the Department of Education; and Sara Gonzalez, New York City Councilwoman. Winning students received their scholarships at this time. Over fifty works were on display by all seven Portfolio Scholarship winners, and a presentation summarizing the winning papers by the five Art History Scholarship recipients was screened on a loop. Dedalus was pleased that students, teachers, and parents were excited to see the artwork professionally hung in the newly renovated gallery space, made available to the Foundation by Industry City.
The exhibition, which is located at 220 36th Street in Brooklyn, is easily accessible via the D and R subway stops at 36th Street. It will be open to the public the next three weekends: June 7-9, June 14-16, and June 21-23. Hours will be 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fridays, and 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
