Studio Visit/ Tomás Libertíny, Rotterdam
Design Miami/
Tomás Libertiny is the son of an architect and a historian. He studied engineering at the TU Košice in Slovakia, painting and sculpture at the University of Washington in Seattle, product design at the AFAD in Bratislava and at the Design Academy Eindhoven. His work combines the processes of many different disciplines to create unique objects with idiosyncratic functionings.
DM/ If your studio were a person, how would you describe him/her?
TL/ If my studio were a person, it would probably be represented as a mad scientist and an ambitious builder, both living in harmony.
DM/ What is your favorite tool?
TL/ A caliper so I can measure everything… twice.
