A Fleeting Paradise

After a 12-day stint on a double-masted schooner in the Arctic Circle, Sarah Anne Johnson doctored the photographs from her journey—such as the ominous nebula she placed in front of the sun in her Dark Cloud—to express concern for the fragile environment she experienced first hand. “After such an experience, one can’t help speculating on the impact we have on this planet", she said, explaining her manipulation of the images as an attempt “to show not just what I saw, but how I feel about what I saw."
