David Bowie once called Berlin “the greatest cultural extravaganza that one could imagine.” Sure, he had a way with words—but isn’t it the truth? Since the ’90s, artists have flocked to and thrived in Berlin, and this week on Artsy we strive to find out why. In conjunction with the events and exhibitions of Gallery Weekend Berlin, we'll highlight local exhibitions as we present our focus on the city through interviews with and insights from our favorite Berlin artists, aficionados, and friends.
