In her 93rd year—33 years since she first hung her works in the her native Austrian Pavilion at the 39th Venice Biennale—Maria Lassnig is honored with the prestigious Golden Lion Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s 55th iteration. “I’ve been through a lot of ‘isms’,” the artist has said of her prolific career, which has spanned Surrealism, Feminism, and Expressionsim, among other many others. Lassnig maintains, however: “You can’t put me in any drawer.”
