Forever a voyeur into Edward Hopper’s eerie, silent world—filled with moody, sinister scenes and lone strangers, sipping nightcaps in after-hours haunts—Beijing-based artist Yan Xing decided to bring the the American Realist’s scenes to real-life. In his nine-minute black-and-white film, the artist recreates seven iconic Hopper scenes, void of sound, just as they should be.

On view at Galerie Urs Meile's booth, Art Basel.
