Art.sy: What’s your definition of design?

Diane von Furstenberg: My definition of design is something that’s utilitarian and precious.

Art.sy: What design object do you live with that you couldn’t live without?

DVF: Oh I could live without everything. But I would say my iPad.

Art.sy: Can you share your favorite design book, periodical, or blog?

DVF: … I’ve been watching Art.sy. [winks]

Art.sy: What’s your favorite piece being exhibited here at Design Miami/?

DVF: I love all of the furniture. There’s so much.

Art.sy: In your own personal space or spaces, how do design objects and fine art relate?

DVF: I don’t look at fine art the same way as a design object. Design is about function. Art is about feeling.
