JR Turns Artsy Inside Out
Artsy Editorial
Inside Out is JR’s art project spanning—and involving—worldwide communities.
How does it work? JR creates portraits across the globe that are meant to be posted in the streets. Currently, his photo booth truck is parked at New York City’s Times Square, and in seconds, creates a poster-sized print to be added to a mural of black-and-white faces pasted across the square. When the Artsy staff caught wind of this project, we didn’t miss a beat before heading uptown to have our own portraits taken; and soon after, displayed with pride across our 25th floor headquarters.
See where JR spends his time when not in the streets with our exclusive tour of his studio.*Thanks to our neighbors Mondrian SoHo, for giving us keys to their penthouse (!) to photograph our Inside Out participation.
