“I used to say [I had] three main fathers: Spike Jonze, Salvador Dalí, and Charlie Chaplin
.”— Llyn Foulkes
In honor of his career retrospective and NYC museum debut—at age 78—Llyn Foulkes looks back on a diverse, 50-year career that began with West Coast fame and has yet to simmer. In the video at right, Foulkes recalls his early influences—artists he called fathers, memories of art school, early days of drawing cartoons, and his first marriage, curiously, to the daughter of a Disney animator.
Watch the video at right and see the installation images from the exhibition at the New Museum, NY, on view from June 12th through September 1st, 2013.
