While the mention of Man Ray might send your mind straight to portraits from his passionate-yet-turbulent love affair with model and photographer Lee Miller, Miller was just one among a long list of beautiful women the Surrealist photographer captured on film. Evidenced by an oeuvre colored with (black-and-white) beautiful women—Coco Chanel, Ava Gardner, Elsa Schiaparelli, Virginia Woolf, and Kiki de Montparnasse, to name a few—Man Ray’s shot list was a who’s-who of a decadent avant-garde, including the ever-so idiosyncratic Surrealist artist Meret Oppenheim (pictured at right) who he photographed in 1930.
