If you live in New York City, perhaps you’ve noticed the bright blue and yellow banners overlooking the streets of Manhattan to signify the upcoming Asia Week festivities. If you live elsewhere, look to Artsy for highlights of the exhibitions, auctions, and special events over the next nine days (the event runs from March 15 to 23). Now in its fifth iteration, Asia Week welcomes its largest number of participating institutions since its inception in 2009; since then, the event has built momentum with a growing number of organizations, museums, auction houses, galleries, and Asian art specialists—all partnered to expose the local community to the broad range of Asian art through a captivating week of programming.

The two works pictured—by Indian artist Bharti Kher and Pakistani artist Muhammad Zeeshan, respectively—are included in the Christie’s South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art sale March 20th, 2013.
