“Days and months are the travellers of eternity,” Edo poet Matsuo Basho once famously wrote in a poem-filled travelogue of his country’s landscape (1,200 miles on foot, if we must tell). Today, these romantic words universally represent the concept of a personal journey—especially for Takeo Hanazawa, the Japanese artist who titled his recent painting with the sentiment.

On view at Gallery Side 2, Art Basel Hong Kong - Insights, Booth 1C17, May 23rd – 26th.
