In 2002, The Armory Show chose their first annual artist commission, Karen Kilimnik, who based the visual identity of the fair around Grand Central Station’s escape from demolition. Every year since, an artist has been honored in a similar way; past artist-partners have included Barnaby Furnas, Lisa Ruyter, John Wesley, Pipilotti Rist, Mary Heilmann/John Waters, Gabriel Kuri, and Theaster Gates—among others—and this year the Armory conspires with the inimitable Liz Magic Laser.

As you wait to see what Liz pulls from her hat, take a look at past artists’ work, at right. Barnaby Furnas, 2003; Lisa Ruyter, 2004; John Wesley, Untitled, 2004; Gabriel Kuri, Untitled (Montanas), 2011.
